Tokunbo Central’s answer: most countries have an official route for comparing foreign qualifications.
- Find the right body: each country (and sometimes each profession) has its own recognition service or credential evaluator. Your target employer, university or regulator will usually name the one they accept.
- Order documents early: sealed transcripts sent directly from your university can take weeks or months. Start before you travel.
- Regulated professions are separate: nurses, doctors, pharmacists, engineers, lawyers, teachers and accountants usually need a licence from a professional body, not just an evaluation.
- Keep certified copies of certificates, transcripts and name-change documents (marriage certificates) together.
- Budget for fees and translations where documents are not in the local language.
- Use evaluated credentials on your CV: “equivalent to a UK bachelor’s degree” helps recruiters.
Your turn: which credential evaluation did you go through, and how long did it take?
