Birthday, wedding, naming or thanksgiving, Africans abroad still know how to party. How do you plan an owambe abroad without breaking the bank or the local rules?

Tokunbo Central’s answer: experienced party planners in the diaspora offer this checklist.
- Venue: community halls, church and mosque halls, hotel function rooms and restaurants. Ask about end times, alcohol rules, decorations and cleaning fees.
- Noise and licensing: many venues have strict end times and noise limits. Respect them to avoid shutdowns and fines.
- Food: book a trusted caterer early and ask for a tasting.
- Aso ebi: order fabric early, share a clear payment deadline, and allow extra time for tailoring and shipping.
- Vendors: DJ, MC, photographer, decorator and cake. Get written contracts with arrival times.
- Guests and RSVPs: people abroad expect invitations with clear times; send reminders.
- Promote it: big events can be featured on Tokunbo Events.
Your turn: what is the best owambe you have attended abroad, and what made it special?
