Tokunbo Central’s answer: people who ship home often share these tips.
- Choose by urgency: air cargo is fast but costly; sea freight and barrels are cheaper for bulky items but take weeks to months.
- Use established shippers: check reviews, how long they have operated, and whether they offer tracking and insurance.
- Know customs rules at home: duties apply to many goods, especially new electronics. Keep receipts.
- Pack well and list everything: photograph items, keep an inventory, and seal boxes properly.
- Avoid banned items: each shipper has a list; batteries, liquids and some foods are restricted.
- Confirm pickup at the other end: who collects, what ID they need, and extra fees on arrival.
Your turn: which shipping method or company has worked best for you, and to which country?
