How Do I Find an African Church or Mosque Abroad?
For many Africans abroad, a church or mosque is where you find friends, job leads, childcare help and a sense of home. How did you find yours?
Tokunbo Central’s answer: these are the easiest ways newcomers find a place of worship and community.
- Search our directories: the Church Directory lists over 1,250 African and African-led churches (RCCG, Winners, MFM, Church of Pentecost, Ethiopian Orthodox and more), and the Mosque Directory lists mosques serving African Muslims, all on a live map.
- Ask at African stores and restaurants: owners usually know every community nearby.
- Visit a few: service style, language, size and children’s programmes vary a lot.
- Look beyond Sunday or Friday: many run job clubs, youth groups, language classes and welfare support.
- Missing from our list? Add your church or mosque from the directory page.
Your turn: which church or mosque made you feel at home abroad, and in which city?
